Finding the woods
Read this before you set off rather than when you get lost — the last half mile is the only part that catches people out, and the signal up there is not reliable.
Your sat-nav will probably not bring you to our car park. Put the postcode in by all means, but read the last paragraph of the driving directions below before you leave, and take a screenshot of this page — mobile signal drops in the lanes.

By car
Make for Chard Junction, then head uphill and take the first right, signposted to Holditch. The car park is the first right again after that.
If your sat-nav has taken you into the centre of Holditch village instead — which it often does — carry on uphill, turn left at the cottages, and then take the first left into the parking area.
Park along the hedge. Then walk through the small pedestrian gate on the left and follow the footpath down into the top of the woods. Please do not drive down the vehicular track across the meadow; it is for site maintenance, and it is not a short cut.
Five minutes, downhill, on paths and boardwalks. Big suitcases with small wheels have a hard time. Bring what you need and leave the rest in the car — it is a short walk back up if you forget something.
By train
Axminster is the nearest station, on the hourly South Western Railway service from London Waterloo. It is roughly two and a half hours from Waterloo, and about fifteen minutes from the woods by road.
Pre-book a taxi. This is not optional advice — cabs do not sit at the rank at Axminster, and you may wait a very long time for one that never comes. Book it when you book the train.

When you get here
- Park along the hedge in the parking area at the top.
- Go through the small wooden pedestrian gate on the left — not the field gate.
- Follow the footpath downhill into the top of the woods, about five minutes.
- At the camp centre, under the parachute shelter, find the in/out board and slide the slate tab with your treehouse name across to ‘in’.
- Note the duty phone number posted below the board. It can change during a stay.
- Follow the signs to your treehouse. It is unlocked, with the key inside.
Every path is lit by motion sensors right to your front door. Late arrivals are completely normal and no one needs to be told you are coming.
